This poem is a perfect contrast to my May Lost Poem as it shows the point of view of the character who has trouble finding focus and giving his or her attention to one thing as opposed to Losing Your Attention, which is about the frustrations of someone losing focus constantly. It fits into my theme because it explores the struggles in finding something intangible which is a concept I have not yet explored in my theme.
This lyric poem has no rhyme scheme and does not use any poetic devices which gives it a much more honest tone.
My mind is so cluttered
I'm a big mess
My thoughts are wandering
To the right and left
I try to find a focal point
But too soon I am distracted
I need a change of scenery
Give me something new
But too soon I am distracted
I need a change of scenery
Give me something new
Noise surrounds me
I carefully listen in
So many interesting topics
Not sure which to eavesdrop on
I carefully listen in
So many interesting topics
Not sure which to eavesdrop on
There's too much in the world
It is impossible to concentrate
I love it all except one thing
I cannot seem to pay attention
It is impossible to concentrate
I love it all except one thing
I cannot seem to pay attention
